Lines in the sea and on the sand

Lines in the sea and on the sand

Have you noticed the beautiful illustrations of kelp which adorn the Tangled Greens website and Instagram? We are unbelievably proud to have collaborated with artist and activist Emily Lamb to bring Tangled Greens to life.

Sometimes you come across people in life who are truly quite special. With no visual guides or previous experience in drawing giant bits of kelp on the beach, Emily walked onto the sands of Sanna on the Ardnamurchan peninsula with a borrowed rake in hand and her movements were a meditation, steadfast, smooth, intuitive and a testament to her incredible natural abilities and technical skills.

Emily pours energy and creativity into being a voice for vulnerable and exploited animals. A passionate vegan and advocate of sustainable lifestyles, she immerses herself into selfless challenges such as her 30 minute daily sketch for wildlife over 365 days and by talking about the uncomfortable truths of our food systems and treatment towards animals.

Her artworks are dedicated to animal conservation with a deep love for Africa which runs in her blood through the great legacy of her Grandfather David Shepherd and her family who continue this legacy through the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, of which Emily is an art patron.

Our visions have aligned in the desire to offer an alternative way of eating. Our cultivated brown kelp offers people and business a way to incorporate seaweed into their diet, soil or products in a way which will not harm natural kelp forests and protect the biodiversity of our oceans. It is a regenerative, chemical free and cruelty free marine vegetable which can provide all of the essential nutrients to help tackle both obesity and malnutrition at the same time. We are just at the beginning of the story of understanding how our cultivated brown kelp can play a role in addressing climate change, global poverty, food insecurity and protection of marine habitats.
