We cultivate two species of brown kelp, both of which contain essential nutrients and minerals to maintain a healthy diet for both humans and plants. The sugar kelp and winged kelp have been growing in the cool waters of the Atlantic for 6 months, taking all that they need to grow from the surrounding environment

SUGAR KELP

A fresh, salty, and funnily enough slightly sweet taste with hints of the sea and cucumber. The thick fronds make it an excellent substitute for meat. It will be at home in a soup, stew or as an alternative to a fibrous vegetable. This harvest the lions share of our sugar kelp is going towards making our liquid fertilisers

WINGED KELP

A finer frond with a delicate texture and a mild, nutty taste. It has been given it a good wash and then quick-frozen. Once defrosted it is like fresh - blanch it, add it to a salad, crisp it up in the oven like a kale chip or wrap it around a vegetable, fish or meat to add a salty sweetness flavour when roasting. It has little "wings" coming out the root which we are so excited to experiment with!

FOOD

Seaweed adds the deep complex umami flavour which increases taste and salivation which is good for your digestion. It is a versatile kitchen staple and the unsung hero on the plate. This is a call to all chefs and seaweed lovers to get in touch and get adventurous with us

FERTILISER

Just as seaweed is good for us, it is good for the soil too! Kelp has historically been used by farmers to improve soil nutrient levels, crop yields and quality. Our brown kelp contains all of the trace elements, vitamins, amino acids and growth hormones required by plants to grow. Are you are gardener or a farmer? We would love to chat!
